How To Download, Install and Setup Spire Siri Port For iPod, iPhone and iPad

Earlier tonight we told you that hackers Chpwn and Ryan Petrich released a legal port of Siri called Spire for older models of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The Spire Cydia tweak is an extremely easy way to install Siri on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and first generation iPad. Unlike previous ports of Siri, like the H1Siri Cydia tweak, that are unreliable and buggy, the Spire Cydia tweak is very stable and is actually legal. This is because Spire downloads the necessary Siri files directly from Apple’s servers and allows you to specify your own proxy server, rather than one public proxy server.

Steps

  1. Jailbreak (use our Guide to Jailbreaking Any iPhone, iPod and iPad iOS)
  2. Launch Cydia, search and install Spire (100MB so it might take a couple minutes)
  3. Once installed your phone will require a reboot
  4. When phone reboots go to Settings -> General -> Siri and turn it on
  5. Now go to Settings -> Spire and add http://iphone-my.com where it says proxy host
  6. Done!

      Thanks for your feedback. Since there are only a few public ones in the world they are probably receiving heavy amounts of requests so you may be able to use them here and there. We will keep updating the list as new ones become available so check back often and share, especially on Facebook or Twitter as others might have come across some.

      Servers are being hit hard (as mentioned in the previously reply above) as servers are taking more requests than they can handle; much like running too many applications at once and using all the system resources. Location is also an issue as most are region specific. If you are outside Canada, United States or Germany you might have an issue until someone in your geographical location sets up their own server.

      The lists are being constantly updated to provide the most up-to-date servers.
      All servers in the list have been confirmed working from more than one source.

      The serves are crashing because they are receiving millions of requests for Spire all over the world. This has been explained in previous posts. The influx of requests are crashing the free servers.

      Also, some are region specific so unless you reside in that country they may or may not work which is the primary reason for the list.

        f3v3r he’s right. This is NOT a valid server because the “453″ of the IP address exceeds 255.

          And it isn’t a valid ip address because it starts with 192 (which is for lan only) and because it is just three sections instead of four. HOWEVER, if you look it up on a DNS server, it resolves to this ip 192.5.5.241. you can think of it as mail.google.com except with numbers instead of letters.

      Sirikeys came up for a while, paid, they went down. Loads of people scammed – don’t buy!

    Just jailbroke 5.0.1 yesterday and now my iPhone 4 on 3G or wifi will not load anything on the internet. Nothing is blocking it and my router is fine. It was fine most of yesterday and now is getting really irritating. Advice?

    Siri, connects to this server. But the server is overloaded, so Siri will deny the request. We are going to have to give the servers some time to mellow out.

    I have all the necessary stuff to set this up. I have my own proxy running, I think. I just don’t know how to connect from it. Or get the 4s Keys on here. Does anyone want to help with that?

      you need to email the ca.crt or ca.pem to your phone. install using ifile and set your wifi dns to your servers ip address. also for spire.

    I installed spire and didnt tether boot, could that also be a problem. it loads and just says unable to complete request at this time just like everyone else. I’m installing ubuntu now to set up a proxy, but i was wondering if someone had a guide or new of a guide to setup a siri proxy with the tokens and all.

        This is message on their homepage. Currently Siri is not working Due to Apple Blacklisting our iPhone4S key’s which was coded into the crt. We need to flush out the iP4S from Apples Blacklisted server and Re-Code with fresh key’s.
